Wedding guests dress in a manner appropriate for almost any other social event at the same hour and season. Men usually wear business suits, while women wear dressy street-length costumes in any colour except solid white or black. Modest necklines, gloves and hats (or other head-coverings) are in order for women guests at church ceremonies, but the hats may be removed for the reception. Guests may wear formal attire to large formal weddings in the late afternoon or evening, but this is entirely optional. The important thing is to look your best - without trying to outshine the bride!
